Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the government’s handling of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Saying that people are on their own, Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “Save your own life because PM is busy with peacocks.”

In a sharp attack against the Modi government yet again, Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “India’s coronavirus cases will cross 50 lakh this week and active cases will cross 10 lakh. Unplanned lockdown was the gift of one man’s ego, which led to the spread of coronavirus across the country.”https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=indiatoday&dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1305347232070209538&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.indiatoday.in%2Findia%2Fstory%2Fsave-your-life-because-pm-busy-with-peacocks-rahul-gandhi-attacks-pm-modi-on-covid-19-handling-1721581-2020-09-14&siteScreenName=indiatoday&theme=light&widgetsVersion=219d021%3A1598982042171&width=550px

Rahul Gandhi added, “Modi government said be atmanirbhar (self-reliant) which means that save your own lives because the Prime Minister is busy with peacocks.”

PM Narendra Modi had recently shared a on his on social media handles in which he was seen time with peacocks at his residence. In the video, PM Modi was seen feeding grains to the bird.

The Congress has been accusing the government of having failed to take adequate steps to stop the spread of the virus and said the lockdowns have failed to give the desired result.

After PM Modi posted his video, Congress’s Randeep Surjewala had said while most experts predicted that India is going through a second wave of infections, Modi government “remains either unaware or refuses to even acknowledge”.

In a swipe at the prime minister, he said while India is hurled into the abyss of coronavirus, “Modiji is busy feeding peacocks”, in an apparent reference to a recent video shared on social media.
